Program Note

Commissioned in memory of Toby Eagle, a young violinist killed in a car accident, Theme and Variations on a Beloved Tune was written in 2007. The theme and variations is based on a Jewish melody, nigun, a favorite of Toby’s. After the introduction, the theme is presented, followed by four extended variations and a finale.
