The Baltimore Symphony will perform Starburst in April of 2026 under the direction of BSO Music Director Jonathon Heyward. Starburst is Leshnoff’s most often performed work, with over 30 orchestras performing the work in the past decade. The Baltimore Symphony co-commissioned the work in 2010 under the direction of Marin Alsop.
The Nashville Symphony will perform and record Leshnoff’s 50-minute oratorio The Sacrifice of Isaacin February 2026 under the direction of Robert Spano. Spano conducted the premiere of The Sacrifice of Isaac with the Atlanta Symphony in May of 2024.
The Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra and soloists Alex Kerr, violin, and Meredith Kufchak, viola, record a new Leshnoff album in summer 2025. Repertoire includes Chamber Concerto for solo violin and orchestra and Four Scenes from Childhood for solo viola and orchestra. The CD will be commercially released in 2027.
“Violinist Gil Shaham, always a welcome visitor to the Aspen Music Festival, debuted a new sonata by Jonathan Leshnoff on Wednesday in his Harris Hall recital. The world premiere of the heart-on-sleeve, unabashedly-melodic, lushly-expressive piece made for a memorable occasion.”
