Conductor Spotlight

Jason Seber

 

Known for his affable and engaging approach, Jason Seber is currently the David T. Beals III Associate Conductor of the Kansas City Symphony. After a highly successful initial season as Assistant Conductor in 2016-17, Seber was promoted to Associate Conductor, and he continues to lead the Kansas City Symphony in nearly 70 performances each season for Classics Uncorked, Pops, Family, Screenland at the Symphony and education concerts, as well as Christmas Festival, Symphony in the Flint Hills and a multitude of other programs in the community. He also serves as cover conductor for Michael Stern and guest conductors on the Classical series.

Prior to his appointment with the Kansas City Symphony, Seber served as Education and Outreach Conductor of the Louisville Orchestra for three seasons and Music Director of the Louisville Youth Orchestra. Seber previously served as Assistant Conductor of the Cleveland Pops Orchestra and the National Repertory Orchestra. He has collaborated in performances with artists ranging from Jinjoo Cho, Christopher O’Riley, Conrad Tao, Lisa Vroman, and Joyce Yang to Boyz II Men, Peter Cetera, Melissa Etheridge, Ben Folds, Brian Stokes Mitchell, My Morning Jacket, and Doc Severinsen.

 

Seber has guest conducted the Charleston (South Carolina), Colorado, Houston, Indianapolis, Mansfield (Ohio), National and Windsor (Ontario) symphonies, as well as the Cleveland Pops and the Denver Young Artists Orchestra. This season’s highlights include leading the WorldStrides Honors Performance Series Orchestra in concerts at the Sydney Opera House and Carnegie Hall, and return engagements with the Colorado Symphony and Houston Symphony.
